Illustration and installation
Project Overview
In the newly built Broadcasting House, our client required a graphic to span a 20 metre corridor, stretching from the green rooms to the BBC News studio.

The second brief was to create a graphic for the canteen space whilst employees queued for food.
Our Contribution
We wanted to lean heavily on the current BBC News graphic and utilise this as a central element. From this, we listed the BBC offices from around the world, sourcing appropriate images to reflect a trust-worthy and influential global channel that is BBC News.

The solution for the second brief was to use TV chefs spanning generations, whilst using some of their more well-know quotes. The cut out effect allowed for a flexible design within a very tight and challenging space.
BBC mural
By far and away the greatest challenge was how to create a huge graphic to span a 20 metre basement corridor, as well as being flexible enough to edit for several other smaller walls, whist maintaining a continuity through the graphics, colours and images.

The solution was  to create a number of designs that could work as a stand alone mural, or be stitched together, to create a mural that could span the complete length of the corridor. We achieved this by changing the size and position of the globe and type, as well as using different cultural images from around the world.

It was wonderful to hear such great feedback, both from internal employees and external News guests on how the space had been transformed, from a drab basement, into an attractive visual space. Equally, the graphic concept was such a success that it was adapted for use within the office spaces on 2 floors.

Again, the greatest achievement was creating a concept that tied in with the canteen space. Using TV chefs and 'interesting' quotes added a fun element to design, whilst showcasing the rich cooking heritage from the BBC's archives.
