By far and away the greatest challenge was how to create a huge graphic to span a 20 metre basement corridor, as well as being flexible enough to edit for several other smaller walls, whist maintaining a continuity through the graphics, colours and images.
The solution was to create a number of designs that could work as a stand alone mural, or be stitched together, to create a mural that could span the complete length of the corridor. We achieved this by changing the size and position of the globe and type, as well as using different cultural images from around the world.
It was wonderful to hear such great feedback, both from internal employees and external News guests on how the space had been transformed, from a drab basement, into an attractive visual space. Equally, the graphic concept was such a success that it was adapted for use within the office spaces on 2 floors.
Again, the greatest achievement was creating a concept that tied in with the canteen space. Using TV chefs and 'interesting' quotes added a fun element to design, whilst showcasing the rich cooking heritage from the BBC's archives.
